Mozilla Thunderbird 68.0 [Full] - A Review of the Performance and Stability Improvements

Thunderbird version 68.0 is only offered as direct download fromthunderbird.net and not as upgrade from Thunderbird version 60or earlier. A future version 68.1 will provide updates from earlier versions. If you have installed Lightning, Thunderbird's calendar add-on, it will automaticallybe updated to match the new version of Thunderbird. Refer to thisCalendar troubleshooting articlein case of problems.

There is no built-in mechanism for upgrading to Thunderbird 68.0 from Thunderbird 60; instead users must download the program installer afresh. Thunderbird will instead push version 68.1 to existing Thunderbird 60.8 users on its release. Visit here for a full list of changes.

Tested in a fully up-to-date xenial amd64 VM. I verified that the version currently in xenial-updates (1:60.9.0+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.2) exhibits the problem. I then enabled xenial-proposed, installed the thunderbird update (1:60.9.1+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1) and verified that the problem is fixed.

The verification of the Stable Release Update for thunderbird has completed successfully and the package is now being released to -updates. Subsequently, the Ubuntu Stable Release Updates Team is being unsubscribed and will not receive messages about this bug report. In the event that you encounter a regression using the package from -updates please report a new bug using ubuntu-bug and tag the bug report regression-update so we can easily find any regressions. 2ff7e9595c
