Hello, I'm new here. I live in Nashville and have been playing bass and guitar on and off for the last 40 some years. Recently I acquired an AA-31 Applause guitar in surprisingly nice condition. I purchased it from a fellow whose dad owned it and passed away in 2000. He told me his dad seldom played it so that would explain the nice condition and also why he was willing to part with it. I am trying to determine the age of the guitar as well as the country of origin, Korea or the U.S. There is a blue tag on the inside which says "A Kayman Music Product Applause Model no. AA-31" There is also a silver tag above it which reads SERIAL # 023519". On the Ovation website under cracking the code the serial # would indicate a manufacture date of 1974. I've found some information on the internet stating that the overseas production did not start until 1976. Anyways if somebody out there knows more about this, I would appreciate knowing too. The fellow I bought it from says the guitar hasn't been played or tuned since his dad died and probably quite awhile before that. You can imagine my surprise when I strummed it and it was in tune. I played it for a little while before I bought it. When I brought it home I checked it against my electric tuner and it was dead on. Also, the intonation at the twelfth fret was dead on for all 6 strings! It has what appears to be a rosewood fretboard and a mohogany neck with black binding and white dots. The face of the guitar is black with a black pickguard. The headstock is also mohogany with what appears to be about a 1/4" inch black plastic face. The tuners are chrome and each is attached with 2 screws. Once again, if you can fill me in on country of origin, date of manufacture or anything else of interest I'd be grateful.

O.k. this post should probably be called Godin guitar serial numbers rather than Seagull guitar serial numbers ? because it applies to all guitars under the Godin umbrella (Seagull, Art & Lutherie, Simon & Patrick, Norman and La Patrie) but it certainly applies to Seagull guitars.
The present system doesn?t actually tell you anything about when the guitar was built, which is a bit of a pain, as working out the year of your guitar is often the only thing people want to know from their serial number.
I mean I guess serial numbers are really meant for internal purposes for Seagull and for anti-theft measures but sometimes you want to be able to find out the year of production. I imagine if you were to contact Godin they would have this information.
But as I said earlier, it is perhaps the fact that serial numbers are mainly for internal company purposes and for identifying stolen property. But, it would be nice to be able to quickly tell what year your guitar was built from the serial number as well.
Hello. I am really in a quandary. I have what I believe to be a Seagull artist series, cameo ca but I can not find a serial number anywhere on it. The labels inside the sound hole look authentic. Where can I find the number or did I get a knockoff. The guitar looks exactly like the one on seagull?s web page. I sent a text to seagull this AM but they have not replied yet. Thank you for any help you can give me. I was told by the fellows bought it from that ha bought it about. 10 or so years ago from Elderly in Lansing Mi.
Hello again. Seagull answered back said the serial number was either on the label on inside of the guitar or on the headstock. I had looked on the headstock several times before and did not see it. Looked again after I was told it should be in one of those two places. Sure enough there it was.
Ive got what i believe is a AA14 or AA14-4 applause acoustic guitar its clearly says applause on the neck and it looks old its got alot of wear n tear but i have no idea what its worth or how to even fix it up???
I own an applause made in moosup .it is a nice guitar to play.i worked at ovation guitars in New.htfd.ct.early 70s.i m4ade the backs 2 sheets of fiber glass cloth formed by hand over an alunimum mold .cut a slit in top sheet inject resin pull down top of mold over bottom heated up.i was lucky to get 1 out of 10 to meet specs.never new applause was made by ovation.always thot applause used seconds discarded by ovation.i picked up an applause last year and the sticker said made in moosup.anyway its a great guitar for the price9
i have an applause aa14-2. i love it. perhaps it's an earlier/later version of the aa14-4? i don't know, either way i'll never sell it. i was very fortunate finding it for just Â50 (private sale) about 5 years ago. i use it for melodic alternate tunings. mine is coloured deep red, also with an aluminium fretboard. it was made in moosup, conn. usa. it's an attractive yet unusually designed full bodied acoustic guitar. it sounds gr8 amped up with the 'headway snake2' pick up i had installed into it recently. i believe it is indeed rare.

hello... I obtained a Takamine Guitar yesterday, the g-230 model. With this serial number, I cannot find the date of this guitar and I was hoping somebody could help me. The following serial number is correct and is 90621025. if anybody could assist me with finding the birthdate of this guitar I would very very much appreciate it. I picked it up yesterday for $10 and I'm really curious to know what I have. Thank you in advance to anybody who can assist me. Thx, Ray
Trying to find information on a Applause model number ae14 serial number 116515 was my father-in-law's love playing it given to my daughter and she loves it cannot find any information about this guitar
I've had this guitar for 15 years or more. The serial # indicates 1977.There is no visible model # though. Judging by the pictures of discontinued models on the Takamine web site, this because of the coloring, I take it to be an F369SD. How can I confirm this and is it worth anything? Thanks for your help! 2ff7e9595c
